Install qBitTorrent in a folder (with all the logs and conf files in it)?

Post by bk322 »

I download torrents to different hardware. For example I download music to laptop, and movies to external hard drive. When external hard drive is not pugged in -- QB pauses torrents, and when I plug it in -- QB re-checks the torrents which takes a lot time and CPU (given amount of data it has to check...).

I'd prefer to have TWO qBitTorrent installations -- one would only download to external drive, and I will only turn it on when it is plugged-in, and the other will download to my laptop.

So is it possible to install qBitTorrent in a folder (with all the logs and conf files in it)?

I used to have another bittorrent client for the purpose. But I like QB much more, and would like to have two copies of it installed.

I found a portable version of QB for the PortableApps platform: http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/q ... t_portable but it is only for windows.

Currently this is not possible.
Also the problem you are describing is planned for fixing(don't know when).
In the meantime, I have a possible workaround.
When you have forgotten to plugin your external HDD and qbt has paused the torrents do this first. Quit qbt. Then plug the drive. And finally start qbt again. Now it shouldn't need any rechecks.
