qB "sucking up" one's bandwidth?

True, with Universal Tcpip Patch its patchable indeed but is it necessary.. Thats why im confused that some programs say its not needed and others say it can. I never did patch mine and experienced none slowdowns or limited speeds myself but after reading this topic im not sure about it. I've changed mine to 250 and will see if I get any improvments concerning downloading and uploading.

I doubt it.
If you've ever maxed out the limit before, you'd know, because the symptoms are quite severe.
I know, because I've encountered it myself several times..
It'll completely block all of your internet activity, except for the active torrent download(s).

1. Set the maximum number of half open connections to a higher value and
2. Enable all three options in µTP connections.

Is the definite reason for the issue the limit on half-open connections, then?

No, the limit on half-open connections could be a complete red herring.
Raising Windows' half open connection limit is likely to make conditions for others on the same network worse instead of better.

Bad qBitTorrent settings can easily cause this problem.

Sorry to sort of reopen this topic, but I've found out that while using a proxy, this problem doesn't happen. Just wanted to let you people know, in the event it helps to find out what the problem is.

When not using proxy, try disabling utp. Does it help?

@Sledgehammer - disabling or enabling µTP does not have any effect. It was suggested earlier in the post. (When NOT using proxy)

@ciaobaby - qB proxy only. Used both HTTPS and HTTP proxies. Same result.

Infact, while using a proxy, qBittorrent works exactly like it should (as per the taste of a majority of people). Bandwidth is distributed more or less equally (from rough calculations, based only on the download speed of my browser and qBittorrent, about 40% qB and 60% browser). Is that because the traffic is no longer BitTorrent but that of normal HTTP? If yes (or no  ), why does µTorrent magically manage even in the event it doesn't use a proxy?

Then it might a problem recently identified by another qbt user: https://code.google.com/p/libtorrent/is ... ail?id=663
That also seems to no be related to utp. Hopefully his captures will help arvid solve the bug in libtorrent.
