An I/O problem for the qBittorrent

Post by sipiworldtour »

Hi,

I downloaded this application yesterday and downloaded few files. Today when I logged in and started downloading the files I got a message icon on the right saying that an I/O error is present. I use Ubuntu 14.04 and keep it regularly updated. I tried downloading various kinds of files but everywhere the same problem. I am attaching the screen short of the panel. I will appreciate any help.

Regards,
Siddhartha

To see the while error open your log(view -> execution log). From the snippet it seems that you don't have write permissions to the folder you are downloading. "Permission denied" at the end.
Also what version of qbt are you using?

Thanks for the reply. I am downloading the files to a partitioned hard disk where I have been saving data. Yesterday only I downloaded the software from Application/ Software center of Ubuntu and was able to download the files using the torrent software. I do not know what happened today that I am having this problem. I am using 3.1.8 version (that is what I could get from the help drop down menu of the software). I have 10 GB space left on the hard disk. I am new to torrent stuff though have been listening about them for more than a year. I used to think myself bit of a 'muggle' so never thought of trying it before.

I tried seeing the execution log from the drop down menu at view but only a correct marked appeared at the execution log name. I guess it was was not checked before??

Your screen shot suggests the path you are saving to is a removable drive, was it plugged in and mounted at the time?

Can you copy the contents of the log AFTER the error has popped out?
(you can censor sensitive info from the log)

Thanks for the quick reply to both the people.

To ciobaby - Well it is the computer hard disk in the machine. I have partitioned it while installing Ubuntu & Windows (both operating systems are installed on separate partitions). I do not know if I have to mount it whenever the download starts??

I have the same issue with a second physical HD that the OS (Mint 15) does not mount the filing system at start up,

It is defined in fstab to auto mount at startup yet it never does, I know about this so I make allowances for it, by not having qBT start automatically and I mount the filing system THEN start qBT.
