Startup is very slow, I presume because of file checking.
Qbit starts by freezing into "Not Responding" mode and doesn't display what's going on. It's distressing not seeing what it's doing and it looks like a crash, even though it's not.
I have about 50GB of files in 30 torrents and the checking takes forever and eats CPU.
If the file checking could be delayed until requests for the torrent's data actually make it through the queue, and if the checking is limited to the part and/or its neighbors that's actually requested, I think that it would help startup be much more responsive more quickly.
Please speed up startup by delaying file checks
Re: Please speed up startup by delaying file checks
Did you tried the latest 3.3.0alpha build? I would say (if possible) try a clean installation and see how it goes.

It can't be.and if the checking is limited to the part and/or its neighbors that's actually requested,
Shut down qbittorrent cleanly before powering your machine downQbit starts by freezing into "Not Responding" mode and doesn't display what's going on

I have several times, but the same behavior persists. Whatever it is, it doesn't fix itself.ciaobaby wrote:It can't be.and if the checking is limited to the part and/or its neighbors that's actually requested,

If it helps, I converted my torrent list using the uTorrent conversion script in this forum. Maybe that has something to do with this?
Would it help if I posted a config file? Let me know what I should post.

I've just installed the 3.3.0beta, not clean installed, and startup is a lot faster! No more annoying checking things.
Thank you for the help!
Although I did notice that some of my torrents' trackers were set to "0". But I'm not sure when exactly this happened: Whether it was the uT conversion script, a previous stable release, or the beta release.

Re: Please speed up startup by delaying file checks
I noticed that I'm still getting file checking on startup, but only after I've done a system shutdown with qBit still running.
If I close qBit from the system tray icon and wait for the "qbittorrent.exe * 32" process to end, then qBit resumes quickly.
This is with 3.3.0beta. I am running Windows 7 x64.

That is because this is the correct way to shut down ANY client version.zabadoh wrote: If I close qBit from the system tray icon and wait for the "qbittorrent.exe * 32" process to end, then qBit resumes quickly.
