Running qB 2.9.0 for Ubuntu for about 4 months now. I noticed that the port which I have bound gets changed upon qB bootup. This does not happen every time qB starts and the port changes to a random #. I -think-, but not certain att, that it may have to do with switching between Global Alt Rate Limits and the regular limits utilising the icon at the bottom of qB window while transferring files.
For the record, UPnP/NAT-PMP is disabled in qB, and UPnP is disabled in my router. I do not use a Proxy server or IP filtering. I also do not use qB's Web interface. I'm going to check into this problem more when I have the time later today.
Bound Port changing randomly, qB v2.9.0
Re: Bound Port changing randomly, qB v2.9.0
I think it will do as you describe if when starting up qB it can't acquire the port you specified or if it's already being used by something else.
You should enable UPnP in qB and router unless you plan on manually setting the port for qB to use in router settings.
That would be interesting to see if it is switching ports when you switch to limited speed, certainly not desirable action I don't think.

The port is set up in the router. I don't have anything else, games, etc., going so qB is the only thing using the port. My pc is static IP set, and it's reserved in the router, too. I'm still looking into this.

Re: Bound Port changing randomly, qB v2.9.0
OK, I think it was my fault. I had closed qB, then reopened it within seconds. I don't think the port was released so when qB tried to grap it it couldn't so therefore tried another port.
I don't think this feature is in qB but if it is, I don't see it. For those of us that don't like to use UPnP/Natting: I think a feature to include in the next qB release should be having a range of user-definable ports to use so if one port is unavailable for whatever reason qB will only try ports within a user-defined range. This range should/would match the range defined by the user in his router.

Yes, I agree that could work, setting a user-defined range. That's a feature another client, which uses the same libtorrent, has. And if you didn't want to specify a range just set the same number in both boxes, effectively limiting the range to the single port you specified.
