qBit crashing at launch

Post by Y10NRDY »

Hey guys.

Tried qBit after using uTorrent for several years and haven't looked back. All of a sudden the application (version 2.9.0.1) crashes every time at launch, with the message "qBittorent.exe has stopped working".

I've tried reinstalling it and using the latest versions and builds but the error persists.

I would post a crash log but I'm unsure as to where to find it since the application crashes immediately upon launch.

Any help would be much appreciated. I love qBit.

Try 2.9.2 version - http://qbforums.shiki.hu/index.php?topic=553.0 or portable http://qbforums.shiki.hu/index.php?topic=602.0. I am using portable version and do not have any problems, except small RSS bugs. :D

If you already tried newset version, scan you system for viruses and/or check your ram memory with windows memory diagnostics or memtest86+.

Thanks for the reply, man!

I downloaded both of those and the portable version did work but 2.9.2 had the same problem.

I would just go with portable but it doesn't seem to have all of the features that the standard build does, and the RSS Downloader is absolutely essential for me.

It seems as though something has been corrupted by the old version which is making it impossible to run the software or its analogs. I did a thorough scan and it revealed nothing. I am fairly confident that a virus isn't the cause.

Any ideas, guys? I don't wanna go back to uTorrent. That program kinda sucks. Everything about qBit was better, including the RSS Downloader! *wahhhh*  :'(

Well if the portable version worked for you perhaps it is/was something in the settings, since the portable version uses it's own "local" settings unlike the others which uses the same settings.

What you could try would be to effectively reset to default settings by deleting all of the settings files (when qbittorrent is closed of course).
Depends on what Windows you're running as to where the files are located. On Windows 7 they should be C:\[username]\appdata\local\qbittorrent and C:\[username]\appdata\roaming\qbittorrent once you delete both these folders your deluge install should effectively be set back to defaults, and in theory based on your experience with the portable, the error should be gone.

Try with deleting qBittorrent.ini from the qBittorrent folder in %appdata%.
