hi
im sure this has been asked 100k times before but i cannot find a solution..
i'm new to torrent world (always used emule...) and always loved easy way i can share old files with it.
Due to little space in HDD i often delete files (i move them to another usb hdd), then re-add them some week later
How can i do this with torrents?
i really like how fast torrents are, but i feel "guilty" when i m not able to share files i download...
How to reshare old files?
Re: How to reshare old files?
many other clients (aswell qb possibly, to i am new) offer you the ability to rename the file/s upon start and holding this i assume that as long as content is true all is needed be torrent file and, the latter in your 'global standard' Save Path (qBittorrent has a capability regarding save path that i have never seen before, one supporting more than destination complete/incomplete and incomplete different complete) (Options/Dowloads knowledge of accessed), object 'Add Torrent File function utilized, match'. possibly dedicated? would this be 'Default Save Path' when others are 'for permanent presence'? i have not attempted with names unique from the default so can not base this attempt at your question utilit to speak of before 'wonder' and intrinsic to 'possibly'.

If you remove the drive while qBitTorrent is RUNNING it WILL go into 'failure mode'
http://qbforums.shiki.hu/index.php/topi ... l#msg11794
qBT( libtorrent ) will continue to check that the payload is present because pause means "Temporarily cease activity, but remain ready to start at any instant".

thread of above may also assist Best behavior for when torrent files are offline/inaccessible - per situation

Re: How to reshare old files?
I rename my torrents and files via qb all the time. It's a quirk of mine, but I just can't tolerate the way ppl name their files and my OCD dictates that I have to rename files.
In qb display (the top portion of the screen) - I hit F2 and rename to my desired name, then I highlight and copy. I then click on the folder name (the bottom half of the content tab) and select the folder or filename and hit F2, highlight and then paste. This keeps my display and folder/file name the same (which is what I prefer).
I wish that qb would do what vuze does and allow me to do all in one edit, but I cannot complain to much.
as for re-seeding old items. if it's not already out there (and a complete greater than 1x is listed) on the trackers then to my knowledge you would have to re-seed it, but if it's something "old" then there may not be many takers for that torrent. I have 1000s of torrents and the popular ones seed more often then my older ones. So if you had something of interest then you might get more takers, but if its not popular, then less ppl are interested less seeding occurs.
That is one reason why you plug your torrent on as many torrent sites as possible (some ppl like one particular tracker over another tracker) spread the wealth around so to speak. But if you post your torrent and then take it down before a complete copy is up and out there then you create the dead torrents that populate many sites. I've ran into this so many times, especially older material, trying to snag it and it has less that 1 complete upload (then you'll never get it!). By downloading and taking the copy offline you waste your potential for sharing and spreading the copy around to more users interested.
This is where the argument comes in on how long to seed? Is it good to leave seeds up forever? Leave a seed for x# of share count (1, 10, 20???)? etc, etc, etc...
I'm not trying to create a flame-war here, so IMHO try to seed as long as you can, come up with your own ratio plan, stick to it, whether it's seed until you bleed or until a certain share ratio is reached. Snagging something, taking it offline is not what the "torrent" philosophy is about.
qb is a great program and will seed your torrents, so let it do it's magic. My seeding philosophy is I use a VPN and seed until I bleed. I'm an avid fan of dj mixes, 80s music, crappy horror/scifi movies, and my fav tv shows. I have a drobo with many tb's of space, so I'm able to keep stuff longer and seed longer. Have I removed items over the past (yup), I've renamed files, torrents (yup) and I seed forever.
But to each their own.

Re: How to reshare old files?
emule is quite different... as long as the file is the same, the sharing hash would be the same and ppl will find it.
torrents... unless u saved the original .torrent or find one containing the exact same file, ppl will not find it. If u want ppl to find it with your own created .torrent, u'll have to post the magnet link / .torrent somewhere. Just like where you found them.
