Bugs?

Post by Rick.Dastardly »

Hi,

After being a long time user of uTorrent, I switched (for the same reasons everyone switches away from it) and gave Deluge a try. After quickly finding out that Deluge socks5 proxy support is not great (if proxy goes down it quite happily carries on with my real IP), I switched to qBittorrent (4.0.4 64bit). I like the look and feel of it, but it seems to have a couple of issues that uTorrent and Deluge don't have:

1. It's hit or miss whether a torrent will actually start. It seems to stay at 'stalled' most of the time (with all trackers saying 'not working', and seeders and peers showing as 0) . Sometimes after a few minutes it will start, other times it takes multiple restarts to actually get going.

2. Speeds are erratic. Constantly goes from max to min and back again.

3. When I exit the program, the process stays active seemingly indefinitely, and I can't restart qBittorrent until I manually end it through task manager. If I shutdown my computer, I get a message saying 'saving torrent data' or something (even though my queue is empty) and have to force close it.

Are these common issues? Like I say, I like the program itself but these issues are pretty frustrating.

Since you mentioned proxy:

"Can you guys try the folllowing build? It is v4.0.3 based on libtorrent 1.1.6+git2a4f056 (latest available from their repo).
Do you still experience problems? If yes, which ones?

I recently switched to nordvpn's SOCKS5 proxy, and this compiled build works, while the official 4.0.4 does not for me."

Thanks, is that a complete portable build or do I replace the qbittorrent.exe with this one?

All of these issues are still present in the new version. This is ridiculous.

Mod edit:
Never thought I'd say it...but time to switch back to uTorrent. People can knock it, but at least it works.
Use what works for you, don't need to share this here as it adds nothing to the discussion.

If the issues are still present bump the Github issues to bring it to attention, or open a new one.

Thanks,

Nemo

All these issues have already been logged on Github multiple times, and many people all reporting these issues here too and on the Reddit subforum. Another version just came out, with none of these issues addressed.

So yeah, not sure what you want from me here.

Im not a dev myself but I can see that its being looked on.

So you know; qBittorrent is developed by volunteers in their spare time..

Be patient is what I can say. Till then you can use whatever you want that works for you better. Im not using a proxy myself and everything works just fine, otherwise I could try to assist you with it if I could.

But anyway I can give it a try;
It's hit or miss whether a torrent will actually start. It seems to stay at 'stalled' most of the time (with all trackers saying 'not working', and seeders and peers showing as 0) . Sometimes after a few minutes it will start, other times it takes multiple restarts to actually get going.
This is more proxy related I guess. I don't have any experience with it as im not using it at all.
Speeds are erratic. Constantly goes from max to min and back again.
This is fixed with the new version, atleast for me. I was the one opening the issue at Github: https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/7741. Try a clean install if possible and try again. Currently its very stable and maxing my speed perfectly for comparison with the Github issue: https://imgur.com/a/50oopAy

I can't give you any ETA though, im using W10 Pro too by the way.
