How many peers are you connected to vs how may peers the trackers AND PEX+DHT+LSD AND your qBT's recent past history has spotted.
Generally, the number outside the parentheses is the smaller of the 2...so it's probably how many peers you're currently connected to.
(The number in parenthesis is often wrong due to dead/now-seeds/double+triple counted peers.)
