really bad download rates

Post by jibri »

Hi all- I guess the title says it all, I'm getting really, really bad download rates all of a sudden. Everything was fine a while back, but suddenly my downloads take days instead of hours, even with torrents that have a lot of seeders...
I reinstalled windows 10 recently, but I can't really remember if that was when the problem started... qbittorrent is allowed through the firewall, so that should be fine... Any ideas what could be causing this?

Have you changed what qBitTorrent version you're running since allowing it through the firewall?
Sometimes a qBT version change triggers firewalls and antivirus software to partially or fully block it from network/internet access, thinking it's been "infected" by unknown malware.
Often, removing the firewall rule and readding it for the newer version of qBT can fix that.

Have you tried resetting qBitTorrent's settings to default?

Me too, started a few days ago, started off well but quickly dropped to 5-15k and there were loads of sources. Disabled Real time protection on Avira and it worked again. Now I have 2 rules that bypass av, one for vpn and another for qbittorrent

:edit: White listing qbittorrent did help, and ended up with about 700kb/s. Disabled Real time protection again and it jumped to over 1.1 mb/s (maxed out line bandwidth)
