I have been searching the web for an answer but do not seem to find it. The thing is this. When i type my torrentip:torrentport in the address bar of my browser, it downloads an unknown file like 5wMsT6y for examble. It is exactly 4096 bytes.
My question is, what is it, and is this correct?
Also when i do this with random ip addresses from my qbittorrent client i sometimes get a login field popup for that address.
Any help reassuring me this is ok?
Downloads unknown file
Re: Downloads unknown file
I have no idea what might be going on, but I don't know much about the inner workings fo the software. I tried the same thing you did, bot on the same computer and on another device on the LAN. In both cases, it tried for a bit, then showed an error message telling me that the connection had been reset.
Re: Downloads unknown file
That might be the notification to trackers about connectivity (firewalled, ip+port, etc) of qBitTorrent, and qBT mistakenly thinks the web browser is a tracker!
Re: Downloads unknown file
Well i think it is still very strange, the file that downloads if i put in my own ip and port and also strange when i copy some random ip and port from the peer list and paste it in firefox, that a login window comes up. If i guess the login credentials, would i be able to get on that ip's computer?
I think it has to do with settings of the qbittorrent client. Not all ip port work. Some indeed try a while and then it just stops. I wonder what setting it could be..

Re: Downloads unknown file
Not on my client. Perhaps on the ip i see in the peer list it is.
Re: Downloads unknown file
It might be helpful for determining what the unknown file is...if you save it and open it in notepad or wordpad, perhaps after renaming it to a .txt file extension so they recognize it.
