Basic Questions - Checking / Resumed.

Haven't used qBittorrent in a while and downloaded a newer version. It seems to behave a bit differently than I am used to.

1.) When I load a torrent it automatically starts checking, but I don't want the client to do that, I want to do a "Force Recheck" on it. How do I get it to stop checking automatically? Also, when it says "checking" I assume that means my client is not actually downloading the file even though Windows notifications will tell me that the file has downloaded once it hits 100%?

2.) What is the purpose of the "Resumed" category "Status"? It seems kinda pointless?
