qbittorrent watch folder "download here"

Post by TheDude »

So i'm kinda clueless on how qbittorrent's watch folder options are working.

When "add folder" and adds a folder to where i want it to keep an eye on, i cant click anywhere to make it choose where to download to. So how can i change where it should download to in the watch folder options?

You can see what i mean on this pic:

So again how do i change the "download here" location in the black ring?

I don't use the feature myself but my guess just from looking at it, is intended to download to the "watch folder" if you select the checkbox, unselected checkbox it downloads to the default location.

But why have a "download here" if it just downloads to watch folder :S

I was hoping to save it somewhere else in different folders for each watch folder, and i dont want my torrents to be in the directory where all my stuff is.

I'm afraid the way it works, and the way you want it to work are too different... doesn't mean it can't be done but it'll be at least a few extra steps.

Set up the watch folders separately, if you wanted multiple folders (and check box selected), move the torrent file to the location so it picks it up, then delete it.
You do know about the separate feature to copy .torrent file? If you wanted (redundant) torrent files, for example, until you finish seeding them. You can set that too. They all go to the same folder though.

I hope that makes sense, a general example just in case... this is how I envision what you're asking, and should be do-able following this example.
Set a watch folder we'll call it (C:\music) and checkbox, and another folder called (C:\tv) and checkbox.
You come across a music torrent, you save it to C:\music, you come across a tv torrent, you save it to C:\tv... and delete the torrent after qbittorrent picks it up.
