"Torrent Does Not Exist" Error every time 3.0 starts

Post by Kurt »

After installing version 3.0.0, I get an I/O error every time the program starts with the message "Torrent file does not exist".  I've tried deleting all old settings and caches and still get that error.

Any ideas?

Same here. Finally registered on the forum just to add my voice to this. Did a complete clean reinstall as per instructions and problem still exists. Surely there's others getting this. Can someone please look into it and give some feedback as it's a most annoying little bug! Thanks in advance ;)

Anyone? Any ideas?

Gonna install the latest version (3.0.2) and see if that fixes things...

EDIT: Nope, still happening on the latest version. WTF?

This error message pops up right on loading the program and you have to click ok to continue. It shouldn't matter whether a torrent is already in the list or not - you should be able to start the program clean without the error and then load a torrent as per all previous versions. This only started happening with v3.0. Yes, after clicking on the error message to make it go away you can load a torrent as per usual with no problem but the problem is the error message itself.

Thanks for replying btw guys :)

I am suspecting that you are launching qbt from an old shortcut/pin that you have made.
Try to launch qbt through Start->Programs->qBittorrent->qBittorrent and tell me if the problem persists.

I suspect there is some kind of mismatch between qBittorrent-resume.ini and torrents inside BT_backup.
By the way, it happens with completely clean install with default settings?

You can refresh your old shortcuts/pins with the new shortcut.

Explanation: Until a few iterations back my installer had a stupid mistake. It created shortcuts in the start menu which had a "0" at the end. So qbittorrent.exe wanted to open the "torrent file" named "0" which of course didn't exist.

Before posting bugs like this, you guys should search and see if the problem has been reported earlier.
In this case, it was reported months ago (by me), and fixed by Sledge immediately:
http://qbforums.shiki.hu/index.php?topi ... 55#msg3255

If you find a bug that hasn't been reported earlier, then there's nothing wrong with posting it in this forum.
..but keep in mind that official bug reports should be commited to the bug tracker here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/qbittorrent/

Thanks for the input everyone :)

Tomaso, Kurt started the thread, I just jumped in as I was having the same problem. Like me he may have been searching through the forum for a while but never found the answer either despite it being here "somewhere" (I waded through quite a few threads first and maybe I just searched thread titles or something, can't remember now) ;)
