Providing Content

Post by ZeeroCoull »

Good Afternoon,

I created my first torrent file, and I'd like to provide content on a site I am a member of.

The problem is that when I sent the torrent to my friend to download with Qbittorrent, it just shows "stalled" indefinitely.

Any suggestions as to what I may need to change so that I can be a content provider?

TIA

I've been reading up on Trackers but I'm a bit uncertain about how to establish what and where they are.

So this is how it works on a PRIVATE tracker.
1) you create a torrent (as you did). you DO NOT have to fill in any trackers there. you do NOT have to make it private torrent.
2) upload the file on the website, fill out the details of your torrent, etc.
3) DOWNLOAD THE TORRENT FROM THE SITE

The site fills the file with your passkey, tracker, etc.
That's how you start the seed.

You also need to wait like 5-10 mins after a fresh upload before the tracker registers the new torrent.

Also when you download the file from the site, you kind of have to learn how to select your data folder.
What do I mean by that..?

So you will see the pop-up when you open your downloaded .torrent file from the site.
Like it may show the files under a folder, or only the file names, etc.
The important thing is, you have to select the folder exactly right there.

If you add the torrent and it doesn't recheck, you messed up the folder selection.
Try again.

You can also make a safety backup of your seeded data, just in case, like just copy out the data into another folder, if its not too big and you have space.

Don't worry, the next upload will be smooth sailing.
At least for the upload part. The other "annoying thing" is the rules on the site. Like whether you filled everything out correctly, if you included the required MediaInfo, and so on, and so on. Each site has their own sets of rules, requirements. It's tedious and a pain but this is how a site remains organized.

I've done the suggestions, but my torrent still appears to be seeding at my end, but stalled for those wishing to download it.

They get a notifier saying "N/A A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period..." And the rest is cut off.

Anyone ever see this? Is there a setting I need to change?

- so you download it from the site
- so it starts rechecking and goes to 100%
- so it does NOT error out and is seeding

right.
if you click the torrent and then Trackers on bottom, what does it say in status column?
it's all good?

Just to clarify, this is a torrent I created myself with the qbittorent torrent creator. I would like to be a content provider on the site I am a part of for some hard to find shows I created mp4s of.

I think I may have it figured out. There was an option that was clicked in the creator that made it a private torrent. Once I removed that check, my friend was able to download the episodes I had embedded in the torrent file I created.

I am going to try and create another torrent file and I will keep you up to date on what I find out. Thank you for your suggestions so far.
