No direct connections - Windows 11

Post by RazorRob »

Hi

I'm so frustrated, hope someone can help.
Ever since I "upgraded" to Windows 11, qBittorrent does not work ... the "flame" icon is orange, which supposed to indicate "No direct connection - thgis may indicate a network configuration problem" (as from what pop-up description displays).
On previous Windows 10, qBittorent worked perfectly with no issues at all.

Firstly, I am Not using any VPN. I have not changed my internet connection at all since changing to Windows 11 from Windows 10.
I disabled and even uninstalled both Windows (Microsoft) Defender and Avast AV ... basic bare with zero protection or firewall, just so I can test wehter it was effecting the connection via qBittorent, but nothing changed, still orange "flame" icon, no direction connection.

Then I decided to try someone elses internet connection, ... still nothing, still orange "flame" icon, no direction connection.
I am clueless what else to do. I'm also not that techie, no advanced knowledge on how it worked behind the scenes ... wondering if there's something simple I'm missing here.

I've attached screenshot of settings.

TIA

Maybe. But you have been lazy too. You could have asked ChatGPT, CoPilot, Claude or Gemini and they would have all helped you out.

1) You can't and should not delete "Defender". You should delete Avast, Avira and all the third party junk AV programs though, that was a good step.
2) For you to have open port forward, you have to set up port forward. Again, AI is your friend.
a) You have to set a static IP for your PC. Either via static DHCP or by going in your network settings on your pc.
b) You have to set up a port forward on the router.
c) You have to set the same port in qBittorrent.
d) Done. But this will only work if you only have ONE router between your PC and the internet. If you have more, you must port forward through all the routers or use the DMZ feature on them. It's like having a firewall and you are opening little gates so torrent can pass through.
