I updated from v.4.6.3 to 5.0.3. Everything seemed to work as before except magnet and torrent links no longer open with qBit and I cannot associate them with qBit. This is using Brave, Pale Moon, or DuckDuckGo browsers which all worked before the update without any intervention by me for years. I've not updated the system or browsers prior to or after this problem. The only thing that changed was the qBit version.
I noticed that the two checkboxes for associating magnet or torrent links with qBit were missing from the v.5.0.3 setup. I downgraded back to v.4.6.3 and the checkbox options were present in setup and everything worked as before. Tried updating to v.5.0.0 and found the same association options missing in setup and the same (lack of) functionality as v.5.0.3. Currently, I'm using v.4.6.7 and everything works as before, but I'm wondering what is going on here with my setup. The dark theme looked great.

Loss link associations, no option
Re: Loss link associations, no option -UPDATE 6/8/2025
An update.
I updated to v.5.0.5 and the association with .torrent files in Pale Moon browser was lost. On YTS, for example, I could still manually select qBittorrent as the program to open each link every time, but that was tedious and different than with v.4.6.3 last year and what I'd been running for several months, v.4.6.7. Interestingly, the magnet link association still functioned, I think because Pale Moon had a specific file association setting for magnet links. Again, this is different overall behavior than when I updated to v.5.0.3 months ago when none of the associated links functioned and I couldn't select qBittorrent at all.
Being that there was partial functionality, I was more eager to fix the issue and found that in Windows 10, there is a default file type setting for a multitude of types, including .torrent. I selected qBittorrent as the default program for this type and everything works as before the update. For all I know, this could have been part of the problem when I previously updated to v.5.0.3, although there were more issues with that update for me than this one and I didn't check any of these settings.
