Chronic freezing in 3.0.6

I just installed v3.0.6; it was working fine and I was able to browse through options and feel my way around the program with no trouble, but then once I got about 0.5% into a download, it started hanging. It would come back to its senses for a few minutes, only to start freezing again. I am trying to just push through the download, but with qbt freezing every other minute, it is slow going.

I have heard nothing but great things about qbt and its stability and as such I would really like to continue using this client, but it is simply unusable like this. I'm hoping beyond hope that this is just the result of some setting not being right for my system instead of plain old incompatibility.

I am on Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

UPDATE: My torrent is currently paused and qbt is still freezing, which leads me to believe it is a problem with program compatibility with my PC.

After trying again in the morning, it now appears it was my antivirus (McAfee) making things difficult. It took its sweet time asking me if I wanted to allow qbt internet access and once I said yes, everything in qbt returned to normal. Hopefully this information can be helpful to those also stuck with McAfee.
