Android app

Post by sirio81 »

Hi all, I just wanted to know if anybody is working on an Android app for qbittorrent.
The webui doesn't work very well on Adnroid (firefox).
Most of the time, it doesn't show the torrents.

I noticed bittorrent and utorrent have their own app.
It's based on a service so you don't have to configure your firewall.
The client connects to this service and the mobile's app does the same.

What do you think about it?

What about Chrome or the default browser?
Also, which Android version? 4.1.2?

Hello sirio81,

I'm also an Android user and i use the latest version of Transdroid which supports qBt 3.0. It's obviously limited compared to a full WebUI but it's already quite handy.

If you want to use Transdroid, you can create a dyndns or no-ip account, set it in qBt via the WebUI tab in the options. That way, you will be able to reach your computer with Transdroid even if your external IP changes.

thank you for the suggestion.
Transdroid works realy well, it was exactly what I was looking for.

The only issue I noticed is that I can't edit the transfer speed.
This happens connecting to qbittorrent 2.9.8 (nox).
May anynody tell me if this problem is for all qbittorrent verions?

Thank you.

Glad you liked it.

I have never used Transdroid speed limit before so i tried to set a speed limit and yes, just like you, it failed.

The error message i get (translated from my mother tongue) is something like "your client doesn't support that feature or it's not implemented yet".

There's a support forum for Transdroid so i'll try to ask the question to the developper.

Not implemented in qB yet (by web UI), as far as I know.

After fiddling a bit with the WebUI, we can limit the download / upload rate just by clicking on the download or upload meters in the lower right corner. I didn't know that since i don't really use it (just alternate speeds on the desktop client).

So basically, the feature is present but we can't remote control it yet?

Here's the answer from Eric, developer of Transdroid :
That's right, Transdroid doesn't support it. I tried to implement this back when support for qBittorrent was originally build, but I could not get it to work. There is no documentation on whether/how this should be possible and the web UI did not react to any of the requests I tried.

You can see my attempt here: http://code.google.com/p/transdroid/sou ... r.java#214 Sorry, maybe I'll try again some day.

Since qbt's webui allows for speed limiting, then you can control it remotely. Unfortunately, I haven't read that part of the code, nor do I understand javascript, so I cannot give any other useful info.
