Can you post a screenshot of your settings? Also.. could you be a little more specific?

downloaded a few items, says they were downloaded, but cannot find them in the destination i chose

Did you refresh the location you download to? (Usually F5) This is usually done automatically on Windows systems, but for example linux, it isn't specifically always refreshed unless you pressed refresh.

I agree though, more info is needed...
