Alternative Global Rate Limits - Why can't I enter a 0?

Post by tryptych »

Why doesn't qtorrent let me turn off my downloads/uploads on a schedule?

Right now it only allows you to limit them to 1 KiB/s. It does not allow you to enter a 0. Seriously guys? What is the point of this? Why not allow us to turn them off completely like other programs do - namely your main competitor? I don't want torrent traffic on my network more often then it needs to be. This bug/feature/annoyance is a bit suspicious, and it will probably cause me to switch programs, which is a shame... I don't understand how can such a beautifully made program screw up this little detail so badly.

This would be a nice feature, and I am sure that there is already a wishlist item in the bug tracker. Unfortunately there aren't many active developers at the moment.

qBittorrent is based on the libtorrent-rasterbar for the bittorrent implementation. Sadly this library doesn't allow you to set the speed to 0(it would be illogical). If you set it to 0, it means that the speed shouldn't be rate limited ie unlimited.

It is possible to stop all traffic if you want, but see my previous point.

Thanks for the response, but what did you mean by that last comment?
