hey all~
so i'm a newbie here ... i looked thru the forums for anything like this but didn't find it. i'm completely lost with this problem. no matter what i do, qbittorrent will NOT allow me to ADD any torrents what so ever.
i click on download and nothing happens ... it just sits there. i have tried turning off the option to have it allow me to select properties to download w/the torrent ... but that didn't do anything.
no window pops up prompting me to download specific parts of the torrent ... nothing shows up in my download que ... nothing!
i have the newest release of qBittorrent ... i'm running ubuntu lucid lynx ... my isp does NOT block torrent downloads [nvm that i'm just trying to download some how to manuals ... that torrents are the only way to get] so does anyone have any ideas on how to help?
thanks in advance!

What are your settings for Downloads > When adding a torrent.
Do you have your port forwarded, DHT and Peer Exchange enabled?
What do you mean by click on download and nothing happens?
Click a .torrent file in your browser and nothing happens? Then you need to associate .torrent with qBittorrent in your browser, or use Save Link Target As (if using Firefox), save the .torrent file and add it to qBittorrent by selecting File > Add File, navigate to the location you saved the .torrent file, select it, and that should add it to qBittorrent depending on how you have that Downloads preferences set.
More information would be helpful.

thank you for the reply ... okay the info:
download settings-
display torrent content and some options when adding [NOT checked]
do not start the download automatically [NOT checked]
pre-allocate ... [NOT checked]
* I have tried changing the options but it hasn't made a difference*
Connections-
BOTH port mapping options ARE checked
Bit-torrent-
DHT IS enabled
no other options here are enabled EXCEPT Encryption [Which like the above settings I have tried turning it on and off]
NO proxy's are used either
okay ... now to explain further the problem. ...
Regardless of i download the torrent file from firefox and try to add it to qBitTorrent ... or search from withing qBitTorrent itself and click on add ... nothing happens. the program just sits there ... [although it does NOT say it's non responsive ....]
REgardless if i have display torrent content ... checked or not ... nothing happens. it's not added directly NOR does it give me the options to select what parts of the torrent i wish to add ...
on a RARE occasion i can add a torrent, but even if that has tons of seeders it WILL NOT download . i KNOW its not my isp blocking as i can boot in to windows and using uBitTorrent i can download stuff ... but i HATE windows and would prefer to stay in ubuntu!
hope that helps

What port is used for incoming connections? Do you have a Green or Yellow icon in the status bar? If yellow you probably need to forward your port, and allow it in your firewall, even if you have both Port Mapping selections checked. I have them unchecked, and forwarded the port in my router and firewall. Actually I did that before I even heard of qBittorrent, but still use the same port.
I have no problem downloading, continuing seeding is another topic. Seems to be fine as long as you don't pause the torrent, shutdown the PC and try to restart it the next day.
Have you tried uTorrent for LInux? http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/linux

uTorrent for Linux is an alpha build and uses a Web GUI, but works better than some final releases.
