qBittorent Has Stopped Working

Post by bluesnow »

It has worked fine for me for several years. Just today though it stopped downloading. When I double click on a file or click the download button, nothing happens.

I had version 3.0.8 then tried 3.0.9, 3.0.11 and now 3.1.5. I uninstalled each fully before trying the next. I have tried changing ports to Random and to 50000. I've looked at my router setup and see nothing different from before, it's not set to block anything at all. I'm using Win 7/64. Any suggestions on what to look for?

If you are referring to Windows Control Panel and Default programs, .torrent is set to qBittorent.

If you are referring to a control panel in qBittorent, I can't find it.

It probably is, but did you go through the process of resetting it, because it doesn't seem to be actually working.

Windows is like that ... you have to change things to what they are, just to make them work again.

(Don't ask, it's been like that since Windows 3.1)

Yes I did that. I have used Windows since it was Win 1.0 and never had an issue with file association.

See this  . . . https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/1292 . . . seems I'm not the only one with the issue. They are talking about 3.1.5 but I had it with 3.0.9 as well as 3.0.11.

I disabled the Extratorrent engine as one person described and did the search over again. Things are working again.

Thanks for your trouble. I'll be back if things do astray again.

Okay

So you are talking about the Search Tab when you posted " When I double click on a file or click the download button, nothing happens."

Yes, that's the only way I've ever known to download a file. Is there another way?

Of course, you can download them using a browser;

Save them, then load them by double clicking the file
OR
save them directly to a qBT "automatically load from" location.
OR
Have the browser open the qBT GUI
OR
Load magnet links in the browser straight to qBT
OR
Copy the magnet URI, then past it into qBT "Add link ... " dialogue.
