Seeding is not done, seeding speed is low, no of torrents seedings are less.

Post by tsai_babu »

Before posting my problems/questions/doubts, I have searched every where to find the answers/solutions for those (otherwise others may feel annoying). But I did not get, at last I am posting here so that anybody can help in solving this issues.

1) The torrent which I have created and I am keeping for seeding, the seeding is not taking place. It is changing to grey colour. I have paused and started again the torrent. I have removed from qBittorrent and again started. Still the problem exists.

Please do not say that no peers/no downloadings. Because I have kept that torrent in Bittorrent, its fine. It is seeding at more than 43 kB/s.

2) Torrents seeding/uploading speed is slow. It is not reaching to the highest speed like 40-50 kB/S.

3) I am keeping 10 torrents for seeding. But either 1-2 torrents only seeding is going on and others are in grey colour. Although I kept connection limits I have kept more than 10 except Maximum number of upload slots per torrent - 4. Torrent queueing also I have kept more than 30. Still the problem exists.

For the time being I am using Bittorrent for uploadings/seedings and qBittorrent for downloadings.

Thanks a lot in advance.

:( :-\ :'(

Why do you keep formating your posts? Please don't do that. (Unless you are writing a guide).

Can you post screenshots of:
1. Main window showing the seeding torrent and its info.
2. Options->Connection
3. Options->Speed
4. Options->Bittorrent

Thanking you for your quick reply, support and help.

I am taking out print screen/screenshots according to your advice.

Sorry for troubling you again. But I found that this is a very common problem many people are facing (I found many people wrote the same in this website and other websites also). I thought that the solution will be very helpful and useful to many people.

May I know which section I have to write my questions/doubts? In this section I have to post only the solutions or steps of settings or guidance. Am I correct?

I am taking out and inserting the print screen images.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the screenshots :). Changing to grey colour means that there are no peers that are downloading the file so you can upload to. I see that most are showing 0 and some (1)/(2) but that still doesn't say that you can connect to them.

Also if you are downloading + uploading you can't reach your full upload speed most of the time, as picture 1 shows. You are downloading and uploading at 31KiB/s the same time. Downloading also uses your bandwith and connecting to peers.

Switching from qBittorrent to Bittorrent in short amount of time can also cause to get some peers. I would advice to stay on one for a while.

I see nothing wrong with the pictures to be honest.

- Are Bittorrent and qBittorrent set to use a different port? I wouldn't use both on the same port. Also I wouldn't advice to use the default port of 6881 for being throttled by most ISP's. Use something between 40000-65000 so it doesn't conflict with any Windows default ports and to avoid any throttling.
- If you manually open your port within your router you can disable UPNP/NAT-PMP at the settings.
- Can you max your upload speed if you stop the download? When im seeding I always try to seed only, no downloading, so I can max my upload speed. This also depends on the peer itself on how much speed he can get. You can't force him to get 50KiB/s.

If you got more questions or anything you're welcome :).

Yeap as Nemo said:

- Be sure to run Bittorrent and qBittorrent on different ports (which are forwarded from your router too)
- The torrents that are grey don't have any peer that wants that torrent (look at the 'peers' column, it is 0).

(generally grey/stalled means no tranfer is happening atm)
You can ask your questions here, just don't format your text needlessly (blue text, center aligned).

Thanks a lot for your support, caring nature and having a lot of patience to understand my problem. I understood it properly and very clearly.

Now I want to uninstall Bittorrent. I want to use only qBittorrent.

As per your advice I will change the port number. Is it will be fine? Shall I click Random or manually I will change between 40000 and 65000 and uncheck Use UPnP/NAT-PMP port forwarding from my router? Shall I check "Use different port on each startup"?

Yes, when my downloading is completed/no downloads, my upload speed is at maximum.

I have a silly question: Will downloads and uploads both interfere with each other? (Because some of my relative told uploading and downloading are different and those do not interfere with each other). Is it correct?

Here, in my place only one option BSNL Broadband which has very low internet speed if you compare with cities and metro cities (have options like Beam Tele/Fiber, Idea, Reliance, Airtel, etc. with high speed internet connections with less price than my plan-Home Combo Unlimited 800 plan- that is the best plan 1mbps upto 6GB, then after 512kbps-no other good plans available). Is there any other tricks and tips for increasing the internet speed.

Thanks in advance.

Clicking random will do. Click it few times till you get a high number and use that one, or manually put 50000 for example both ways will work. If you manually open your ports in your router (if you have one) then you can disable the option UPnP/NAT-PMP within qBittorrent. If your router supports UPnP/NAT-PMP and its activated you can keep it enabled for auto port forwarding. I personally always open the ports manually within my router. You can use one correctly forwared port so ''Use different port on each startup" option isn't needed, or if you want to use a different port on each startup you can enable it but this port also needs to be forwarded on your router each time. Using one correctly forwarded port is enough and you can disable ''Use different port on each startup" option.

Downloading and uploading at the same time definitly interfere with each other cause both are using your bandwith. Here also adds the peer connections that you make. Uploading too fast without a limit can/will slow down your downloads, maxing your download speed can/will lower your upload speeds. Too many connections can also lower your overall speeds but your peer settings are good so don't need to worry about this one.

You can't increase your internet speed. Its what you get from your ISP. If you want faster internet the only way is to change to another ISP providing higher speeds.

@tsai_babu: If I read correctly, Your DOWNLOAD sped is 1 megabit/second. Your settings are (probably) way too high for your speed. Please test your UPLOAD speed and setup qBittorrent using this calculator http://infinite-source.de/az/az-calc.html

I think that the number of peer settings are good enough. I would change the global upload slots to something lower like 6-8 for your upload speed so everyone gets normal speed instead 1KiB/s each or lower. Of course you can try the Azureus calculator to see what comes out there and maybe tweak a little :).

Thanks a lot Mr. gwarser and Mr. Nemo.

I will follow your instructions properly and definitely.

Unfortunate point of here is except BSNL Broadband, no other Broadband connection is available in this place. But whatever I am paying for unlimited Home Combo 800 plan (Rs.900/- per month 1Mbps upto 6GB, then after 512Kbps), with less than this amount i.e. for Rs.650/- or Rs.750/-) in cities like New Delhi, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, many high speed internet connections with 4Mbps or more speed than that are available.

I will follow your steps and ask you my questions, if I will face any problem or doubt(s).

The calculator was very useful (its link/website you have given). It is very easy to get the very good/optimized settings of qBittorrent according to your broadband connection speed. Really thanks. Of course according to our need, little modifications (whatever shown) we can do.

Thanks in advance again.
