Magnet links say downloading metadata
Magnet links just say downloading metadata...from thepiratebay. Any replies would be welcome. Thanks in advance. I'm in Linux Mint 17.1 CInnamon 32 bit in VirtualBox 4.3.26.

Try this:
1. Enable DHT;
2. Options -> Advanced (enable "Resolve peer host names");
3. Restart.
Add a torrent with no trackers and tell us if this works.
It's been working for me lately (qBittorrent 3.2.0 + LibTorrent 1.0.4.0 + Boost 1.54.0). Even if DHT nodes reaches 0 (current seeded torrents stall), when I add a new magnet link with no trackers the DHT node number goes up and the metadata completes the download. When it doesn't (complete the metadata download), I click OK and try downloading it again. Either way it picks up.
