I updated to 4.1.1 and noticed a new feature in the changelog:
FEATURE: Torrent name is also renamed if the content was renamed in the "Add New Torrent" dialog (glassez)
Is there any way to disable this? I like to rename the folders within torrents to suit my naming scheme, but I like the original torrent name to appear in qbittorrent.
For example, if I was downloading the torrent "kali-linux-2018.2-amd64", on my hard drive it would be located in "D:\OS Downloads\Kali\2018.2-amd64.iso"
When I rename the folder on my hard drive, it renames the torrent in qbittorrent too. This means I have a lot of torrents which are named a version number without any context.
I'd like to know if there's a way to keep names as they were previously, where the torrent name is separate from the folder name.
Thanks
Prevent torrent being renamed in client window when directory is renamed
Re: Prevent torrent being renamed in client window when directory is renamed
Hi everyone! I really love qBittorrent but this is a really bad "feature". Until I found blastys post here and saw that it was included in the changelog I thought this was a bug introduced in 4.1.1. Please make it possible to change the directory name without renaming torrent.
Re: Prevent torrent being renamed in client window when directory is renamed
The option that save the torrent in a folder doesn't say that it will be renamed, so renaming it without the user knowing it is an usability mistake. There are cases in which I'd like to preserve the original torrent name, and right now it is not possible anymore. It can have some use but I would leave it optional for the user to decide.
The only workaround right now it would be to disable the subfolder creation and set the download folder to the one you want. That way the name in qbittorrent and the torrent file will be preserved. I don't know if that would work for single file torrent though.
Suggestion:
- let the user decide how the torrent will show up into qtorrent, with a way to set it to either the torrent original name or the subfolder name
- let the user decide how the torrent will be named when saved into a folder, with choices being the original name or the name showed into qtorrent
