Cannot restore qbittorrent for Windows 10

I have been using Qbittorrent a long time without any problems. Now it keeps asking indicating that the UI is locked. I tried to insert the password as indicated on one of the website o=about this issue but sadly to no avail. So, next I tried to copy the password in my Qbittorent settings. I could not do this as I not get to this part of the programme. In other words the software won't open but only provides the option of inserting the correct password so as to unlock the UI. I then tried uninstalling it which I could not do as the software was still active. I then tried to quit the software which was not an option as the option to end the process was not active and could not be used. I then tried installing a new version overriding the old version but that also did not solve the problem. So, how can I get Qbittorent to work properly?

In Windows go to Run (Windows key + R) and execute this command:

taskkill /F /T /IM qbit*

After it's done go back to Run and execute this command:

notepad %APPDATA%\qBittorrent\qbittorrent.ini

Inside notepad open the replace facility (Ctrl+H) and change “locked=true” to “locked=false” (no quotes). Next, click either Replace or Replace All and then save the file change (Ctrl+S).


Now just reopen qBittorrent and it'll be unlocked!
