why dont we have an updater in the program?

HI guys love the program.
just wondering why is there no auto updater.
every time I turn on my pc lol. I'm asked to download a new update. why is there no updater in the software... because every update I have to go through the uninstall/ install process its ad nusem thingy for me . do it quietly. and never bother us with updates ever y 3 minutes

i would love to see a autoupdater in qbittorrent you guys could use WinSparkle https://winsparkle.org/ or you guy could use Squirrel https://github.com/Squirrel/Squirrel.Windows witch might be a better option

This is a super old thread but thank you for posting that.

Unfortunately since the project has no binary signing, Windows Defender often blocks the new versions and stuff. It even removes qBittorent at times. I suppose signing would be the optimal first step, but it's very expensive (300-500$+ / yr) and someone has to mess with that too, once it's added. Also, browsers and SmartScreen might still flag the update/release because it's "new". So yeah, what a deal. See: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/489 ... 7#66582477

Ps.: there are some companies providing "free" signing for open source projects, but they have very strict requirements for projects.
