Show progress on moving torrents

Post by larkable »

I think there should be a progress bar that says where torrent is at on its journey from one drive to another. Right now it just says "Moving", but there's nothing in the UI that tells me that it's actually working properly. I usually have to look at the Task Manager to see if there is a lot of disk usage for qBittorrent.

If a torrent is completed and is now moving from one drive to another, it should have the status "Completed [Moving]" and the percentage for that torrent should read the % of files transferred. It will say "Completed" so users don't think that the torrent is not finished while the progress updates.

Likewise, there should be an "Incomplete [Moving]" status for torrents that have not yet finished but are being moved.

I second that. It would be a very useful feature.

If a torrent is marked as moving, why can't you simply assume it is moving and let it get on with it.

1. It will be good to know the progress
2. An ETA of how long the move may take or how much longer it may take
3. The above two will help when there are especially multiple torrents downloading and moving which may lead to clogging of the drive read/write pipeline.

I just registered to say that this would be really awesome, I've been using qbittorrent for years and it is always a bummer the need to go the destination folder to see how much of the file downloaded has been transfer to have an idea on how much it will take to transfer it...

Also it would be really awesome to adapt the button "on downloads done" > shutdown to finish when the move has been completed.

My computer has shutdown infinite times after downloading multiple torrents and moving only the first one since the torrent understand that the download is complete and the moving is not part of a "download done" (it remains blocked by the first file moving because qbittorrent prevents being closed when moving a file)...

+1. Other new user for this same request. I have moved some files and I have missed it.

+1
I accidentally lost a lot of movie files which I used to rip from dvds or bluerays, so I'm using radarr and qbittorent to download them instead of ripping them again (way easier and less work if all is automated).
I switched from deluge to qbittorrent because downloads seem to go faster and more trackers available.
I have a lot of torrents in progress, either downloading or moving. Lots have status moving, but I have no idea how far they are and after a day, still nothing has been moved, so I'm wondering if moving is working at all. A status progress would be helpful.

A progress bar showing the percentage of files transferred during the move would definitely make it easier to track the torrent’s status. The "Completed [Moving]" and "Incomplete [Moving]" status updates would also provide clarity and prevent confusion. It would definitely improve the user experience in qBittorrent. I made an account just to boost this, It would be very helpful, at least show the percentage in the tooltip when I'm hovering over the "Moving" status instead of just showing "Moving" a second time.

+1 from me. I was running low on drive space once and had to move some torrent files to another location. It was a large move even tho I broke it into smaller chunks. Given I was also seeding, I couldn't tell what was doing what and I didn't want to stop seeding. If I had progress info, a ETA would be really nice, then I could have done it all at once. I also had to repeat this once I got a new drive in, added it to the LVM setup, and had the extra space.

While this is not something I usually do often, it would still be nice to have some way of seeing what is going on. After all, once I get a torrent and its files, I keep it. I currently have 43TBs of torrents with share ratios into the thousands for a lot of them. I have unlimited fiber internet here. My VPN is pretty good too. Being able to manage this data without loses is good not just for me but for all those wanting a file I happen to have. While I don't backup this data, I would still hate to lose it because of a copy process that I thought was done but was not being interrupted for some reason.

So, I'd love to see a progress tool, with a ETA if possible.
