Want to Recheck 10 g torrent and not Redownload
Want to Recheck 10 g torrent and not Redownload
I was running 3.0.5 last night and my computer shut down and restarted. When I started up (logon password required) qbittorrent I noticed that my ten gigabyte file was downloading again. The completeness gauge was back down to 0%. I changed the setting on the torrent line to force recheck. qBittorrent keeps stopping the recheck at 1.5% and is downloading again. I do want to reseed but I do not want to redownload ten gigabytes.
I upgraded to 3.0.6 but the problem seems the same.
Besides there could be a situation in which I was the only seed online.

Maybe the shutdown/restart caused data loss!
If you pause the torrent and do a forced recheck what qbt says? How much % it says that is completed?

The ratio amount also changed. The forced recheck stopped at 1.5%. It showed 1.4% as being downloaded. I did not see an error message. I will double check now for an error message.
In the execution log I see nothing unusual. The block log shows 5 IP's banned due to corrupt pieces. The forced recheck stopped again at the percentage that has now been downloaded.
Forced recheck again and got some new IP's banned for corrupt pieces. There is no error message unless there is somewhere to look other than the execution log.

Was that a normal shutdown/restart or your computer crashed/the power was cut off? If it is the later maybe it caused a data loss too...I was running 3.0.5 last night and my computer shut down and restarted.
Re: Want to Recheck 10 g torrent and not Redownload
It was not a power outage.
There are now 39 IP's banned due to corrupt pieces.

Re: Want to Recheck 10 g torrent and not Redownload
I had this happen once too, I made assumption that it was a bad torrent and searched another one.
Are you saying that you had it 100% complete at one point?
Did you initially set a specific folder other than default location when you started the torrent?
And is it possible that the new version hasn't placed the torrent folder within itself, therefore starting over?

Re: Want to Recheck 10 g torrent and not Redownload
It was 100% complete. I did set a location. I did not change to v3.0.6 until after the problem occurred. I updated in case the new version would fix the problem.
The ratio for this torrent has gone down again. It is now down to .38. The blocked IP list is now a long repetition of one IP being filtered out.
The share ratio went down to .37 14 hours ago and is still at .37. After 4 more hours ratio is .38 so maybe it is rising.
I have re downloaded but the problem still stands.
... 1. If there were no active seeds, I maybe could not reseed and keep the torrent going. I am not sure about this one.
... 2. Unnecessary band width.

You might have stumbled on a rare bug. Unfortunately there isn't enough info to be able to troubleshoot it. I don't even know what you should look for...
Maybe you should file a bug report. The author may have some insteresting questions in order to troubleshoot the problem.
qbt should save the data prior to shutdown/restart. So far for me it does...

What is the lost amount of information then? You should check the "waste" field in the general section of that specific torrent.

It shows downloaded 21 gigs, wasted 0 B.
Re: Want to Recheck 10 g torrent and not Redownload
Maybe the partition where you saved the data is formatted in FAT32 system?

How was the system restarted? Manually by you clicking start->restart? By another program which was scheduled to shutdown the pc at a specific date/time?
Re: Want to Recheck 10 g torrent and not Redownload
Windows update restarted Windows but my session was not started until I woke up and logged on. QBittorrent was started by me after my session launched.
