Hi,

So what happens is whenever i have qBitTorrent(i've also had this issue with uTorrent) open, i am unable to load a web page on my browser(Have tried both chrome and firefox) as soon as a download starts(from as low as 1KB/s).The moment i close the program i can load everything perfectly. Is there something in my operation system likely to be causing this?

I can rule out:
My ISP is not throttling my connection ( i have performed a glasnost test [http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparen ... .php#tests])
My firewall, i have disabled it and still have the issue

I have downloaded a program Netbalancer which allows me to shape the bandwidth the programs on my computer use, when i set the bandwidth on qBit to the minimum(1KB/s) and prioritize my browser as #1 on the tier list it still is unable to load anything.

I have also set the preference 'require encryption' on my downloads

Have you modified the qBT settings in the Connection, Speed and Bittorrent sections of the program according to your upload speed?
In the Advanced section what settings do you have for disk cache and what is the number of max. half-open connections?
What is the memory/processor footprint of qBT in Task Manager once a download starts?
Did you updated your network card driver? What model do you have and what driver version?
It would be very useful to post in your reply the values you have at this moment regarding all the questions above.

Oratane, have you remembered to patch your tcpip.sys file, to allow more connections?
If not, it sounds exactly like that can be your problem.

XP-AntiSpy is a small and free tool that you can use for this purpose:

In the program, go to 'Special' > 'Connection limit'.
Setting it to 100 should do the trick.
Afterwards, reboot your computer.

DL: 30Mbps UL:1.5Mbps

Yes, the upload speed is capped at 40kb/s

n the Advanced section what settings do you have for disk cache and what is the number of max. half-open connections?
Disk cache: 16MiB
Max No. of 1/2 open connections: 50

What is the memory/processor footprint of qBT in Task Manager once a download starts?
1% of total CPU usage, (~15000K)

Did you update your network card driver? What model do you have and what driver version?
The driver to the best of my knowledge is up to date and according to windows(not sure whether to trust it or not), it is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller - driver version: 7.44.421.2011

I did as you suggested and there doesn't appear to be the option you are talking about??

You need to be logged on on to your computer with an account that's got administrator rights!

@Oratane

Try these settings:

- 140  kB/s max upload speed
- 5      Max upload slots per torrent
- 90    Maximum number of connections per torrent
- 190  Maximum number of connections globally
- 3      Max simultaneous downloads
- 5      Max active torrents

(If you still have problems try to lower the maximum connection settings to 80 per torrent and 100 globally)

I was running the program as an administrator.

Oh, I'm running WinXP myself, so I haven't encountered that problem.
Seems that in WinVista (maybe in Win7 too) you need to click 'Special' > 'Administrative mode', and restart the program first, to access that setting.

In Vista/7 connections limit can be modified to 500 very easy with a reg file. Check the readme inside.

I modified the connection limit using the files in that zipped folder and it didn't change anything in regards to my original issue.
