For those who are experiencing issues with 5.0

Post by whopassthrough22 »

There are some reports of users experiencing some issues with the latest version 5.0

In order to prevent unwanted behavior that may cause significant data loss it is ok to roll back to 4.6.7

Examples:
  • Torrents not Re-checking properly for the same directory/location
  • Torrents starting and replacing extensions even when they are selected not to start.
  • Unselected files still being downloaded.
  • Removal of setting QbitTorrent as a default app from within its own interface.
If you find issues issues you can report them here :

https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues

You can also disable update checking by Tools > Options > Behavior > Check for program updates.

Best practice is to :
Test any update on a different machine.
Read the full changelog and commits prior to updating.

Hopefully this helps anyone who may have mistakenly posted in this forum and can lead them to the right place.

Have a good one!

Search Plug-ins were removed.
Even worse: When trying to Re-install them, it was impossible!

-OS: Windows 11 x64 23H2
-QBT: v5 x64

Nah. I clicked "search for updates" and it worked fine.
All updated, searching, working.

Custom themes also working if someone is bothered by the colors. (thank Qt for that lol)

Other issues: Found none other than the color change.
Speeds are maxed on 2GBps+ on 5+ machines using 3 OS.

Worksforme™️.

One obvious issue that I am experiencing is whenever I click on a Magnet link, qBittorrent now opens two windows. Usually one contains the torrent info and the other is empty.

Also, if I uncheck and skip a file in a torrent, after downloading the file will still exist with 0 KB file size.

Could you possibly open a ticket about it here? https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/
- Please, do search existing tickets first.
- Please include all details, reproduction steps. Your OS, the version/variant you run, etc.
- Please include a screenshot if possible. (Remove personal details if any.)

Thank you.

Really.

Just like how you would install them since like v2, on bottom right click search plugins, then search for updates. But, if this is too challenging, you might want to reconsider that warning on first start. You may run into trouble with random public downloads.

MikeTaku wrote: Thu Oct 10, 2024 11:26 am How can you easily search for and install plugin updates, and why should you be cautious of downloading random public files?
How: I just wrote it down... :(
Why: 1) Because of p2p laws per country. If someone is unfamiliar with basic software controls, they might not know the laws in their country. 2) Because anyone can upload anything and these unknown uploads can contain malicious files.

BTW, v5.0.1 is as Problematic as v5.0.0 has been when it comes to Search Plug-ins.

Different version, Same Problems... :P

P.S.
Windows:11 23H2 x64 & Python:13.3.0 x64

And when I tried to Manually Install a Plug-in, it was impossible...
